The Department Culture, Education and Sports (here after Department) is a structural part of Kaunas Region Municipality

Administration and is responsible for implementation of State and regional policy. The Department was established in 1955. The Department supervises, analyses, evaluates the state of the regional education, culture, sport and takes the decisions about the improvement of the situation regarding better quality and results.

There are different institutions in the region: gymnasiums – 12, progymnasium – 1, basic schools – 10, primary schools – 1, infant schools – 3, kindergartens – 20, multifunctional center – 1, art school – 1, sport schools – 2, sanatorium schools – 2 and 7 cultural centres. 9 000 students attend schools, 115 leaders and 1300 teachers work at schools.

Kaunas region is a large area around the second largest city in Lithuania. Some schools are situated close to the city, the others are in rural, socially disadvantaged areas. The department seeks to ensure the equal education quality in the whole region based on regional and national criteria of internal and external school quality assessment.



Kaunas Region Education Center is a modern institution of non-formal adult education and pedagogical-psychological counseling which aims to follow the trends of European, national, regional, educational and cultural policy as well as the knowledge society. It also strives to meet the educational needs of local society.

Kaunas Region Education Centre organizes professional development qualifications for in-service teachers and adults. It also provides pedagogical and psychological counseling and assistance special needs education. The overall objective of Kaunas Region Education Centre is to meet the requirements of the European idea of life long learning, also science, culture and technology.

The carried out programmes: professional qualification programmes for teachers; management programmes; general cultural programmes; subsystems of the educational system; professional briefing; computer literacy and development programmes; foreign languages for beginners and intermediate level; educational trips-seminars in Europe; cultural workers professional development; health educational programme; adult continuous education programme.

Our Clients: 10 thousand adult learners (teachers, school staff) a year; 3 thousand students (preschool, basic school, gymnasium);other: officers, chefs, the unemployed.



There are 1136 students at Kaunas region Garliava Jonučiai progymnasium. Students and teachers actively participate at the international and national projects, contests and activities organized by non-curriculum programs. They also have the best possibilities to receive education accordingly to their interests, skills and personal goals.

The school clearly stands for the idea of lifelong learning as a value which replaces the traditional model of learning, using more and more learning strategies based on active partnership and informational literacy. Using the latest information technologies, there is a new, attractive and advanced learning environment created. All school‘s community is involved in this process and the decisions are taken after being discussed in the community. Shared leadership ideas are implemented at all the stages of educational process at school. 

 The philosophy of the school is oriented to the culture of high achievements and it is considered that all the students are able to achieve the highest standards, the best quality of education can be provided and the teachers can be the best educators.

The vision of the school is the community of students, their parents and educators whose activities are based on human values and they are able to ensure the highest quality education. It is pursued that the education quality is an integral part of school management. This goal is achieved by improving the competences of leaders at all levels, so ensuring that educational programs are connected to the practice, also partnership with the local community. Various environments and educational tools are used for this purpose.  

One of the priorities of the school is improvement of the lesson quality. A modern effective lesson and all the activities of the school are impossible to imagine without active and meaningful all community members participation in the process of competences improvement. 

The competences acquired by the staff of the school, are integrated into the strategic development of the school by making a model of knowledge sharing system. The effective sharing of knowledge and the dissemination of the competences acquired will be implemented by using strategies of professional education, such as learning discussions, participation in the learning environments (eTwinning), observation of the lessons given by other colleagues, reflections and descriptions of the learning experiences, best practices dissemination, coaching and mentorship, also educational material prepared by teachers.



Zapyskis Basic School is an institution of education which has 146 schoolchildren. Our school provides primary and basic education, helps to schoolchildren to prepare for continuing education in gymnasiums, vocationals or other schools. Also it creates conditions for a creative, pubic, patriotic, healthy person who is able to integrate into nowadays society. In Zapyskis Basic School are created a few systems for productive management: schoolchildren’s promotion and discipline system of education advancement; non-formal education system (there is a list of coveys and schoolchildren can choose relevant activity: sports, arts, ethnic culture, dance, active games, ICT, career education, et.); and a system of methodical, work groups activity in school. Also, there are implementing “Second Step”, “The control of children emotional expression” prevention programs. Furthermore, Zapyskis Basic School has 19 long-term partners (National level). There is a list of projects in which Zapyskis Basic School took part in (Regional and National level). Moreover the school is a member of UNESCO associated schools net. Moreover, there are widely using ICT, applying active teaching methods, organising integrated lessons used in education process. Therefore the lessons are often organising in untraditional education places (especially in warm season of the year). The vision of Zapyskis Basic School is to become a local educational centre of intellectuality and public spirit. Every member of this society experiences success and strong feelings of mutual respect, tolerance and empathy. Zapyskis Basic School is an integral part of changing and modern European community.


Konya Provincial Directorate of National Education is a state institution in charge with the planning and coordination of all kinds of educational and training activities in pre-school, primary, secondary and adult education in Konya Province. Konya Province  has 31 districts with 1.700 schools, 475.000 students and 24.500 teachers in total. Konya  İl MEM is an umbrella organisation for all these schools and institutions.

Our school,  called Muhammed Hamdi Yazır İmam Hatip Ortaokulu  is secondary school serving for the students between the ages of 11 and 14. It practices science and social education besides religious curriculum. It has got a director, a director assistant, 27 teachers, 390 students, a security guard and 4 servants.

  Our school deals with all its staff to educate students on behalf of self confidents belief and ethics characters in the national high moral values. We are moving forward with confident steps towards becoming a safe and clean school. Our goal is to be sampled every aspect of it.

   With a young, dynamic team spirit and with our school’s enriched library, smart boards. We  work with all our might and dedication to educate our students who will be our future.



Şems-i Tebrizi Anatolian İmam- Hatip High School is a state institution. The school has 32 classes with 1020 students, 57 teachers and 4 administrators in total now. Our school is very big and includes a multi-purpose hall, physics and chemistry laboratories, a canteen, two guidance rooms with guidance services and a very nice and rich library (with 15000 books ) which can also be used by local people. We are working on a new local project in the name of ‘’Book Buddies’’; which will develop reading among students. And in this way we will be able to give them many morals ans knowledge and take them from the emptiness and will bring them in the good way.

Our vision; is to be individuals who give importance to values, reading and science; learning and teaching continuously, walking in the light of revelation (testimony) in accordance with our faith on the way of providing happiness to humanity, security to society, direction to the life.



Konya Selçuklu Provincial Directorate of National Education is a state institution in charge with the planning and coordination of all kinds of educational and training activities in pre-school, primary, secondary and adult education in Konya Seçluklu Province. Konya Selçuklu Province responsible for 200 schools, 120.166 students and 6521 teachers in total
